Volunteer at the JSO
BE A PART OF A VIBRANT ARTS ORGANIZATION!
The JSO is looking for reliable volunteers to help in the office downtown. We need individuals interested in helping with basic office tasks, assisting at JSO concerts, working on JSO archives, and providing orchestra hospitality. (See complete descriptions below). You will be doing a great service for the JSO and at the same time will become part of a vibrant and interesting work environment.

Hours: Weekdays, 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM; 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM; 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM.
Duties: Answer phones, sell tickets, assist customers and other daily activities to include mailings and data input.
Skills: Pleasant demeanor, good phone skills, ability to follow directions, interest in the JSO. Volunteers for the JSO office will be scheduled in 2 to 4 hour increments or more if the volunteer wishes. Volunteers need to be able to commit to a once a week schedule in order to provide continuity in services. Duties will be determined by skills and background as indicated on the volunteer application.
Hours: 6:45 PM to 8:00 PM as subscription Concert Greeters, Backstage Glimpses Hosts, or Concert Ticket Table Volunteers. Some additional concerts, including Summer Pops and the Holiday concert, require afternoon times and will be announced as needed.
Concert Greeter: Be familiar with the concert site and event in order to answer questions and direct customers to restrooms, entrance to the hall, etc.
Backstage Glimpses Host: Same as Greeter, but specific to the Lecture Series.
Ticket Table Volunteer: Understand JSO ticket system, general math skills, pleasant under pressure – good trouble shooting skills.
Skills: Ability to meet and greet concert attendees. Act as JSO ambassadors and conduct basic business transactions.
Hours: Weekdays any time between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
Duties and skills: Need good background knowledge of JSO and ability to recognize documents of historic value (to the JSO) to be cataloged, and have an interest in creating historical data and photograph files for JSO use. Optional: ability to scan and electronically file documents.
Hours: Wednesday or Thursday Evenings – 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM. Times may vary depending on the concert cycle and rehearsal schedule. Rehearsals are generally at the JSO downtown location.
Duties: Shopping for food to be served, preparing food and seeing that food is ready for musicians at their break, as well as clean -up after the break. Generally serve simple menus, such as pulled pork sandwiches, spaghetti, or chili. Menu is up to the server. Cost of food is provided by the JSO.
Skills: Enjoy preparing, serving and cleaning up meals or refreshments for the orchestra members during their rehearsal break.
